The Miami Dolphins, known for their pass-rushing prowess, are facing a challenge as they head into the 2024 Training Camp with some key linebackers missing from action. Pass rushers Bradley Chubb and Jaelen Phillips find themselves on the active/physically unable to perform list, while Shaquil Barrett, a two-time Super Bowl champion, has announced his retirement just before the start of camp. This leaves a void in the linebacker position for the Dolphins as they gear up for the upcoming season.

Despite these setbacks, the Dolphins are not short on talent in the linebacker department. With rookies like Chop Robinson, the first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, ready to step up and compete against established NFL stars, there is a sense of optimism within the team. The potential for more additions to the roster before camp adds to the anticipation and excitement surrounding the linebacker competition.

The recent signing of linebacker Jordyn Brooks to a lucrative three-year, $26.25 million deal signifies Miami’s commitment to bolstering their defense. Brooks, a former Seattle Seahawk, brings a wealth of experience and talent to the team. His durability and consistency on the field make him a valuable asset in the Dolphins’ quest for a Super Bowl title.

Having suffered an ACL injury on the first day of 2023, Brooks’ resilience and quick recovery demonstrate his dedication to the game. Throughout his career, he has consistently delivered strong performances, totaling over 100 tackles in a season multiple times. Last year, Brooks recorded 111 total tackles, along with a forced fumble, an interception, and a career-high 4.5 sacks, showcasing his versatility and impact on the field.

Joining Brooks are linebackers Anthony Walker Jr. and Cam Brown, both new additions to the Dolphins’ roster. Walker, a seasoned veteran, brings a wealth of experience as a middle linebacker, having started in the majority of games he’s played in. With over 500 total tackles and 4.5 sacks in his career, Walker is poised to make an impact in Miami.

On the other hand, Brown, a rotational player for the New York Giants, faces a challenge as he looks to secure a spot on the 53-man roster. With his experience and determination, Brown aims to prove himself and earn a place among the returning favorites on the Dolphins’ lineup.

As the Dolphins gear up for the 2024 Training Camp, the linebacker position remains a focal point of attention. With a mix of seasoned veterans and talented rookies, the competition for starting roles promises to be intense and exciting. The team’s depth and diversity in the linebacker unit bode well for their defensive capabilities in the upcoming season.
